Yesterday I noticed that the seat had been removed. I have made an enquiry with the local councils about whether this was legitimate.

2 April 2009 20:00 hours. just passed the wineshop at the end of Furlong Road to discover that Mr Field and MR Berthram (from the wine shop) where removing the seat by the bus stop outside Furlong Rd Post Office. when it was highlighted to them that to remove it would mean that they are committing an offence of stealing public property, the response was that the land it is on belongs to Mr Field. after a heated exchange they agreed to leave the seat in place and go through the right route i.e. the council to apply to have it removed. as this seat is used by many, young and old i suggest that we share our view on the seat with the council too. in the meantime if the seat goes missing i suggest we know who removed it.

In following on from the residents meeting I have noticed that the Scouts use the Nursery Car Park but it seems the favour doesn’t work the other way. I am also in support of residents parking permits, which would be administered by a representative in the road which I believe was proposed in the last meeting. I would also like the option of a cul de sac to be seriously considered as I believe this is the only real way to avoid the issues we see today. All the other proposals will aggravate other problems in our road, especially 'speed'. The remaining road infrastructure in Bourne End is more than capable to take the Furlong Road traffic.

In line with a suggestion from the meeting on 20th October I thought it may be an idea to start recording traffic near misses / incidents.

These may be of use when trying to demonstrate issues to the authorities.

Monday 27th October. Car wing mirror broken by passing traffic.

I would just like to say that we are all suffering with the hideous traffic problems in Furlong Road and it would be nice if residents could support each other. However some of the residents in Furlong Close are actually adding to the stress. My partner occasionally has to park his van in Furlong Close and only does so as a last resort when there is nowhere else to park outside our house and on two occasions his van has been damaged, one time it was only parked there for a couple of hours in the afternoon until a space became available and a lovely person keyed all along the signwriting. Also my daughters boyfriend was sat in his car for 10 mins just waiting for her to get changed and people told him to move. It is a public road and people need to stop being so selfish, the people in Furlong Road are affected a lot more than the ones in Furlong Close - at least they can park outside their own houses.

I have just witness out side my house a BUS DRIVING ON THE PATH because of the traffic in furlong rd.
I have also notice car are parking on the bend of furlong rd which is very dangerous.
Why are people so rude the looks you get when your reversing in your own drive.

Is anything happening about the traffic in furlong rd?
What about?
Resident parking only
or
Yellow lines
or
Making it a one way street
Something got to happen and soon

I am totally disturbed by the proposal of such a construction. Not only is there a huge impact on my property, No41, being overlooked and the value of the property being affected, but the madness of trying to squeeze such a large amount of flats into an area of its size is just crazy. Money clearly is the only concern here, as in how much can be made at the expense of everybody else who already lives here. As I have already expressed in my mail to the council I think it is terrible that any spare bit of land there is these days we feel it necessary to build on and cram in as much as possible. To top it all of I can't believe that traffic insn't a consideration when planning permission is given it seems to me that there are no considerations apart from how much money can be made. And I certainly will not sit back and let them build, more or less, on top of my property as I imagine the people wanting to construct and giving permission to do so wouldn't if somebody proposed to build something similar right next to where they live.

I have lived in furlong road for 20 years and recently the traffic is a joke!! The development of the 15 flats would significantly increase the impact of high density traffic on what has been a community thorough fare - not a congested sidetrack to maidenhead. The impact would no doubt increase the possibility of accidents and the old peoples home at the top end of furlong road has not had a fatality yet. This road is one of the only victorian and edwardian housing stock of its kind left in Bourne End. The impact of a new development would surely change the character and the social impact of this community.

We are in full support of all the comments already posted. Exiting Recreation Road is already a major hazard most of the time with the parked cars in Furlong Road - and sometimes impossible in the mornings. 30+ additional cars parking and exiting on to Furlong Road is nothing but madness. What are WDC thinking?
